I picked up a paintbrush in 2018, not long after retiring from a career that I loved but which definitely used the other side of my brain and instantly found myself hooked. I’ve always been creative - tapestry and embroidery kept me busy for years - but painting opened up a whole new world of joy and colour - and I do love colour, even in my purple and sometimes pink hair! What began as a wee experiment - a toe in the water - quickly became a passion that’s now part of my everyday life.

I love exploring different media, each with its own “personality”: I think watercolours and inks with their lightness and fluidity are just the best; but oils offer me richness and depth; and acrylics - though often frustrating can still surprise me with something wonderful. For me, painting is about experimenting, having fun and growing with every canvas.
